Some children have a deeply fissured tongue (also known as a scrotal tongue). It has deep grooves or wrinkles, which can catch food particles and cause irritation as well as bad breath (halitosis), which is best treated with mouthwashes and gentle brushing. It can be associated with geographic tongue as well.
