guaiac test

The stool guaiac test is a simple card test with which most older Americans already are familiar, also known as the "occult blood" test. This is a chemical test for blood, usually blood in the stool in childrens' medicine, sometimes for blood in vomitus. It should be readily available in any primary care medicine office, answering many questions about possible blood in a stool specimen (and often allaying fears quickly).
