A painful testicle in any male is a potential emergency. If this ever happens to your child (or you!) seek medical attention immediately. If the testicle is twisted on its stalk of nerve, artery, vein and spermatic cord (testicular torsion), it can die from lack of blood flow. Not every pain in the scrotum is testicular torsion (sometimes the cord is inflamed - epididymitis) but don't take a chance. Call your doctor immediately.
